HISTORY OF SMK PUTERI,SEREMBAN

SMK Convent was opened on the 3 October 1904 by a British resident, Mr Weld. At that time, there was only one block and five Sisters as teachers. There were only 36 students in the first batch.

Japanese occupation

During the Japanese occupation, the school was used as a shelter for sisters and orphans from Taiping and Singapore. After the Japanese left on the 1 October 1945, the school was reopened and 800 new students were accepted, and the school continued to expand.

New school

A new school was built because the land on which the Convent stood was taken by Metrojaya for development. Development, however, was stalled leaving an abandoned project. This was due to the stagnation of water, three storeys deep. The developers abandoned the site which now sits as a huge, unused lake in the centre of town.
A plot of land near Taman AST was chosen to built the new school. On the 8 July 1993, the ground breaking ceremony was performed by the Menteri Besar, YAB Dato’ Seri Utama Sri Mohd Isa Bin Dato’ Haji Abdul Samad. The school was renamed SMK Puteri.
SMK Puteri has three blocks of three floors, two blocks of two floors and two blocks of one level.

Facilities

Facilities include offices, Principal's room, teachers' room, computer lab, canteen, Co-operative, photocopy shop, field and hockey turf.
